The American Battle Monuments Commission has announced that the chapel at the Netherlands American Cemetery will be closed to the public until 30 November 2026 because of scheduled cleanup work.

During this period, visitors will not be able to enter the chapel or place wreaths inside. However, the ABMC has stated that wreath display may still be possible by prior arrangement with cemetery staff.

For many visitors, the Netherlands American Cemetery is a deeply meaningful place of remembrance. It honors American service members who gave their lives in the fighting in northwest Europe during the Second World War, including those connected to the campaign that followed the Battle of the Bulge. Any temporary closure affecting part of the site is therefore important for researchers, relatives, and those planning commemorative visits.

While the chapel is closed, the cemetery itself remains a place of reflection and remembrance, and visitors are encouraged to check official updates before traveling. Anyone wishing to arrange a wreath display should contact the cemetery staff in advance.

This temporary closure is expected to last through late November 2026.
